Viva Las vegas..

Hi all..
I hope that this is the right place to put this post. I am going to Las Vegas( fingers crossed) B4 Xmas.. I would like to stay on the Monorail route and that ( I believe) limits me to hotel choices..
Going solo.. to take pics and rest and relax and play some poker too!!
If anY of you have any suggestions on where to stay.. where to play.. Freebies/ cheap eats.. free shows and just anything you really enjoyed seeing and doing, please post a comment...
I have written down a few friends suggestions and researched Vegas on the internet but I like the personal reply from you who have been there and seen it first hand.. TY.....
