Masida Goes WSOPE!!

Post by Masida on Thu Oct 16 2008, 10:51

First topic message reminder :

After I got knocked out of the of the OFC buyin I played a few other games before I went to bed. One of them was a "WSOPE2009 invitational freeroll" at Betfair. Prizepool was $ 0 (little strange) but it was a freeroll, so lets go. Everybody went allin with the first 5 hands and I was still alive with a 10K chipstack. I was't paying to much attention to the game, because there was no prizepool and I was playing 2 other final tables at Landshark and Rio's.

When there where about 25 people left and my stack was decreased til 10K i went allin with ATs against AA and KK and I flopped 2 tens and I went on Got QQ twice in a row and collected some chips and made it til the final table.

In the main time I made it to the HU in both other games, and I lost them both >:(

So only 1 screen open in a freeroll without a prizepool. I was searching internet and found the prizepool of last years Betfair invitational freeroll:
- 1st gets $550 seat in the Sunday WSOP Europe final
- 2nd and 3rd get $55 WSOP Europe Level 2 seats
- 4th till 9th get $5.50 WSOP Europe Level 1 seats
So I thought if I'd win anything, it would be something like that. But still no guarantees. Everybody at the final table was asking what we could win, and nobody could give a clear answer.

I just played on and I was one of the shorstacks at the table, when I found 77. I called a shove from another shorstack and won the coinflip. A few hands later I got KK in the small blind, everybody folds, I limped in to the big blind and I expected a shove. He did with 2 livecards, but he didn't hit I was ganing on the chipleader when I found A5 and called the chipleader. Flop A55, I checked, Chipleader raises allin with A4 and I call with my Full house. Former chipleader donks the rest of his chips to me too, and all of a sudden I was HU with a 3 to 1 chiplead. First hand in the HU villain shoves and I found 33. I couldn't win anything so I called He showed AJ, flopped a J but I turned a 3 for the victory.

I send an e-mail to Betfair about the game and that nobody knew what we could win, and I went to bed. Didn't hear anything on monday, so I send a new e-mail. And tuesday night I got this:

Thank you for your e-mail.

Further to your email please note that you have won a seat into next year WSOPE 2009 GBP1500 NL Hold'em Event this is from finishing 1st in the invitational freeroll WSOPE 2009. Unfortunately we do not have information regarding the schedule for this event.

Hello from London.

Started 12.00 today, ready at 4

After 3 hands I got AA, this was gonna be my day

I raise it up to 100, blinds 25/25, 1 caller.
Flop :As :Qs :Js

check/check

Turn :Tc ..... Check/check again

:3c on the river.

I check, villain bets 200 and I call, he shows KT.

Couple of hands later I get 99, raise to 150 (3x BB) and 1 caller. Flop K23r, I bet 250 en get a 750 reraise form villain who shows AK.

Steady table I'm on, I like it there. Other tables next to us is more action with Annette Oberstad and Alan Cunningham. Get a couple of chips with AQ and 99, ending up the first break with a stack of 3000 (beginstack), average 3,7k. Enough players out already. In de break I met Ferguson en John Juanda at the bar and then back to the table.

I take some chips with AQ, wait and pay blinds. Til I got 2,1k left en get :Kc :Kd. Blinds 75/150 And I raise it up to 450, villain reraises on the button to 1200 and I shove my stack in obv. Villain calls and I'm quit glad if I see :Ac :Js.

But livepoker rigged, and after a :4c :2c :7s :8C :Tc board my WSOPE-dream is over after a horrible suckout. Unbelievable here, sorry there, unlucky this, but unfortunately I don't get any new chips to start with End of story.

Was a superb experience of course, but a bad end. Watched some poker in the casino yesterday and saw Neil Channing, Phil Helmuth and Ronald de Wolfe play some cards. Had a nice flight in the Londoney, arranged through Betfair, with champagne and all, Betfair made it fine for us.

Tonight gonna watch Harry Potter in Empire Cinema and tomrrow I got a siteseeing tour and I going to watch Sealife. Gotta have some fun, while I'm in London not? Cya.

I'm walking into the movie here, with my white Betfair shirt. I didn't even know I was sitting next to Julian Thew. He had postion on me, so I was on his right.

Was a friendly guy, who folded KK preflop against AA against the guy next to him. Everybody knew him, so maybe someone knows him. Pretty good players.

Unlucky Masida gutted for you but YOUR STILL A WINNER mate.

Not many of us will ever get to be in the same position as you mate.

That said I'm playing at Stars 2000 BST Sunday for an EPT London seat worth 12.5k after making the final table last night in a 2300+ runner game.

Lol, I just saw the guy that busted me is the current chipleader at the final table, Fabien Dunlop. That guy commits his stack with AJo in the 4th level lol. And then sucks me out. Gives me a good feeling I got it in well against him.
